This lithograph, entitled "Crossing the Rhine 1918 Return to the Native Land, " is characteristic of Hansi's work. The scene is both narrative and symbolic. The work is created in the tradition of early 20th-century Alsatian silhouette cutouts. This authentic, antique work has its original baguette frame and glass. It bears Hansi's signature (1937) and a dedication. Jean-Jacques Waltz, alias Hansi or Uncle Hansi (1873-1951), was an Alsatian and French illustrator. He was primarily known for his drawings of idyllic village scenes and his biting anti-German caricatures, but he was also a talented watercolorist. We note that the work is pitted, and there are foxing spots in many places, visible in the photos. However, the work remains in presentable condition. Our photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the work. For condition, please examine the photos carefully. Feel free to zoom in. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Frame. Height: 28 cm. Width: 53 cm. Thickness: 1.5 cm. Artwork. Height: 24 cm. Width: 49 cm. A5771.
