Italian vintage freestanding wall unit or room divider from the 1970s, part of the iconic Selex series produced by IMB- Industria Mobili Barovero. Designed as a modular and architectural storage solution, this piece perfectly reflects the functional elegance of Italian mid-century design. There were many various wall units manufactured by IMB in the 1960s and 1970s. All of them in high quality materials, mostly teak combined with innovative precice metalwork. Overall set size is H: 181 / W: 155 / D: 45 cm. The unit is finished with teak veneer on both sides, which makes it a perfect room divider. The structure is supported by black-painted metal uprights resting on refined brass feet, creating a light and balanced appearance, contrasting warm teak wood. In addition to the 4 shelves, the set includes one cabinet with hinged doors fitted with beautifully carved round solid teak handles and an internal shelf and a chest of four drawers with elongated handles. The drawer fronts are joined using traditional dovetail construction—a rare and demanding craftsmanship technique that highlights the exceptional quality of the piece. The unit has been fully renovated. Metal parts have been reapinted and wood cleaned and protected with layes of satin lacquer.
