Antique mirror in gilded lime wood, Baroque sculptures, 18th century

Eighteenth-century wall mirror from Piedmont, made of carved and gilded lime wood. The rectangular frame houses a mirror bordered by small mirrors held by two sculpted mouldings, adorned with gilded floral details. The applied sculptures on the frame include a volute and leafy scroll apron, sides enriched with floral clusters, and rococo feet. The pediment features an elaborate arrangement of acanthus leaves, scrolls, and layered rococo brackets. This mirror represents a refined example of the blend between baroque taste and the lighter rococo style, typical of Turin's production of the time. Similar examples are documented in study texts and found in residences in Savoy, such as the hunting lodge of Stupinigi.
