Superb Italian chest from Lombardy dating back to the 19th century, of high-quality craftsmanship and richly adorned in the Neo-Renaissance style. This beautifully proportioned piece rests on a moulded base with projections, giving the whole a pronounced architectural presence. The façade is rhythmically divided by three wide rectangular panels framed with sculpted mouldings featuring beads and geometric patterns. Each central panel showcases marquetry that forms a diamond pattern centred on a stylised floral motif, reflecting meticulous work and quality craftsmanship. The corner posts are particularly remarkable: sculptures in high relief depicting winged heads and Renaissance-inspired scrolls. Decorative scrolls and finely chiselled leafy motifs. The upper belt is adorned with a sculpted frieze in scales, topped with a wide overhanging top with softened corners, enhancing the monumental character of the piece. This chest offers ample storage space, ideal for: household linen, throws and blankets, tableware or decorative objects, and can be used as a bench in an entrance or at the foot of a bed. Typical of 19th-century Lombard furniture, in the Italian Neo-Renaissance style: architectural decoration, expressive sculpture, powerful volumes, dark brown finish patinated by time. Generally in good condition considering its age. Shows signs of use, wear and small marks consistent with an antique piece, contributing to its authenticity and charm.
