Chest high period oak" Very nice chest high period late sixteenth early seventeenth in oak in very good condition. It is decorated with a rich décor of interlacing punctuated with oves for the panels of the façade and floral, geometric and architectural motifs (flutes in imitation of pilasters) for the other elements. This repertoire is inspired by collections of renaissance ornaments, and recalls the motifs invented by ornemanists such as jacques androuet du cerceau or etienne delaune. The breton departmental museum of quimper preserves several chests with an ornamental repertoire comparable to ours. The copy we present is nevertheless distinguished by the richness and refinement of its décor. Work of western france (aquitaine or brittany?).
