Large fossil stone plateau – ammonites and orthoceras

Large oval platter made of natural fossil stone, featuring a rich decoration composed of ammonites, orthoceras, and ancient organic traces, frozen in the material. Probably sourced from fossil marble in the Sahara, this type of piece is cut and then polished to reveal the natural inclusions. Each platter is unique, with a very graphic mineral composition blending shades of brown, beige, and deep grey. An object that is both decorative and functional, ideal as a centrepiece or presentation tray. Period: 1970s.
