Wear is consistent with age and use. This small Japanese chest of drawers, made between the late Meiji period and the early Taishō period, circa 1890–1926, was designed for everyday domestic use, intended for the orderly storage of personal items, documents, or textiles. The piece features a regular composition of several drawers, combining functionality with visual balance. It is entirely made of paulownia, a wood highly valued in Japan for its lightness, stability, and durability. The original metal fittings, including understated handles and a circular closing plate on one of the drawers, are typical of Japanese furniture from the late 19th century. The surface reveals a warm and sincere patina, marked by time in a manner consistent with its antiquity. A balanced and highly expressive chest of drawers, ideal as a side piece, low dresser, or central feature in a contemporary, Japanese, or wabi-sabi interior. It is in excellent condition, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique, due to the passage of time. Add a touch of originality to your interior with a unique piece that fits into contemporary style and adds personality to your space. This small antique chest of drawers can be paired with one of our wooden bowls or our available antique coffee tables. UNIQUE PIECE.
