Large Italian Single Column Crescent-Shaped Desk in Goat Skin & Brass 1950s

This sculptural single column desk was manufactured in Italy during the 1950s. An outstanding example of Italian mid-century design. The high-quality object features an iconic wooden frame made from Sapele wood veneer (not listed within the CITES Appendices), a desk top covered with natural goat skin (leather) and a single column brass-plated metal tulip base. The impressive desk top is crescent-shaped and has two integrated spacious drawers. There are the remains of an oval manufacturer's label sticker in red and white on the underside. The letters 'l' and 'i' are legible - see detail image in the picture gallery. The designer and maker are previously unidentified. The desk is in very good vintage condition with minor trace of use.
