Small Chiffonnier in the Napoléon III style. 20th century. This elegant piece of furniture showcases the aesthetic codes of the famous marquetry by André-Charles Boulle, reinterpreted here with painted and varnished finishes. It opens at the front with 4 stacked drawers that are slightly curved (the interior is painted in a solid Sienna colour). It rests on a curved base that enhances its silhouette. Perfect stability. The top surface, drawer fronts, and side panels feature a painted decoration imitating red and black tortoiseshell, on which rich scrolls, volutes, and arabesques in gold stand out. Rich gilded brass ornamentation on its uprights, feet, and apron. A corded gallery surrounds the top surface. Each drawer is fitted with a small gilded brass pull in the centre. In good overall condition. Please note some minor signs of wear on the varnish, see photo.
