Louis XV style commode in elm burl and walnut

Elegant small chest of drawers in Louis XV style/transition to Louis XVI/18th century, in the shape of a bean, produced in the early/mid 20th century. This charming piece of furniture has 4 drawers and is made of wood veneered with elm burl and walnut, adorned with marquetry (see photos). Marquetry is an inlay technique that involves assembling contrasting pieces of wood to form scenes, shapes, or geometric patterns. Like a puzzle, fine pieces of veneer are delicately assembled and glued onto the surface of the furniture. The chest features fine and refined marquetry on the top, as well as on the fronts of the 4 drawers and the side panels (see photos). The top, the centre of the side panels, and the drawers are veneered with elm burl. The edges of the top, side panels, drawers, and the back of the piece are veneered with walnut (see photos). The 4 drawers have their original bronze handles. Each drawer measures 26 cm wide, 14 cm deep at maximum, and 6 cm high. They are functional and show some light signs of use and age. The piece rests on 4 sculpted curved feet. The front feet have bronze caps at their ends (see photos). In good original condition and vintage state, with some light old marks, signs of use, slight discolouration in places, and normal wear for its age, across the entire structure, the top, edges, drawers, inside the drawers, veneer, side panels, handles, feet, and pads (see photos). An old mark of use is visible on the right side of the top (see photo next to a 1-cent coin for perspective). A small missing veneer is visible on the lower right side panel (see photo). Due to its very practical dimensions, it can be used in an entrance, between 2 doors (chest of drawers between 2), or a bedroom. Photos taken outdoors.
