Bouquet

This oil on canvas, a true ode to nature, captures the opulence and diversity of a seasonal bouquet, treated in a rich and deep colour palette that evokes the softness of a day's end. The composition is generously centred around a white ceramic pot, adorned with two fine blue stripes, placed on a dark surface. The bouquet literally bursts forth in a profusion of shapes and hues. The eye is immediately drawn to the vaporous and fragrant masses of lilacs, presented in shades of lavender, mauve, and purple, which frame and soften the structure of the bouquet. Emerging from this mass, tender and vibrant pink roses bloom, accompanied by pansies in warm tones (copper orange, golden yellow, and purple) whose dark centres create a striking contrast. A few touches of cream white and deep red add bright and dramatic points to the whole. The lighting, subtle and enveloping, bathes the scene in a soft light, sculpting the volumes of the flowers and highlighting the transparency of the petals and the richness of the foliage. The background, treated in a gradient of warm brown-grey shadows and rosy accents, gives the work a timeless and mysterious atmosphere, reminiscent of still lifes by the old masters. The artist's touch, C. Bantwell Huiban, is delicately applied in the bottom left. This canvas is a masterpiece that will bring a touch of refinement, warmth, and poetry to any interior. It is a daily invitation to contemplation and dreaming.
