Condition: Very good condition, with slight signs of wear. Description. Ilmari Lappalainen was a Finnish designer and interior architect. He studied interior design at the Finnish Institute of Applied Arts in Helsinki. Graduating in 1947, he worked for the Finnish furniture manufacturer ASKO, where he remained until his retirement. Among his most famous creations are the "Laila" chair from 1948 and the "Pulkka" chair from 1963, presented here. This streamlined model is distinguished by its timeless aesthetic and ergonomic comfort. Today, it is considered an icon of mid-20th century design. In addition to his work as a furniture designer, Lappalainen also practiced as an interior architect. Among his most prestigious projects are the luxury hotel Rusa and the GUM department store in Moscow.
