This sculptural piece of furniture, with its geometric silhouette, embodies the ingenuity and poetry of traditional Asian furniture. Made from solid teak, it is inspired by the famous Japanese kaidan tansu, which once served both as storage and stairs in multi-storey homes. Each level reveals a subtle composition of drawers, louvered doors, and compartments, rhythmically accented by decorative brass fittings. The wood, with its warm tones and deep grains, offers a natural warmth. It is stamped on the back. Functional and sculptural, this piece is an ode to the Asian art of living, where every object finds its place in an architecture designed for harmony. It can today serve as a library, storage for precious items, a staircase, or a centrepiece in an interior setting that blends tradition and modernity. Period: 2nd half of the 20th century. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
