Pair of designer lamps, Spring model, by Ingo Maurer, 20th century. France, in chrome-plated steel and white opaline glass. The Spring, often called a "spring" lamp, is a table creation designed in the 1970s–1980s by Ingo Maurer for his studio. Design & materials: It consists of a chrome base in the shape of a helical spring, topped with a white opaline glass globe diffusing a soft light. Typically 32 to 39cm high, with a diameter of approximately 22–23cm. In summary / Ingo Maurer, a graphic artist turned visionary designer, profoundly reinvented functional lighting by transforming it into a poetic, expressive and experimental work. The Spring Lamp, emblematic of his 70s style, reflects his playful approach: a metal spring supporting a glass globe to create a lively, minimalist and witty lamp.
