Authentic alpine peasant chair made of solid wood, dating from the 18th century, originating from the traditional rural craftsmanship of the alpine regions (Switzerland, Tyrol or Savoie). The wood, likely walnut or fruit cherry, reveals a warm, golden patina beautifully acquired over the centuries, testament to a long life of use. Its violin-shaped flat backrest, topped with a round crest and adorned with a central heart-shaped cutout, constitutes the unmistakable signature of popular alpine craftsmanship. The full seat with rounded edges rests on four slightly inclined turned legs, joined by a system of mortise and tenon joints entirely without metal — proof of authentic artisanal skill and a bygone era. The piece is offered as is: the backrest shows a longitudinal crack as well as signs of wood-boring insects (woodworm galleries) visible on all surfaces, witnesses to its advanced age and absolutely original character. An anti-insect treatment is recommended, as well as possible reinforcement of the backrest depending on the intended use. A character piece for lovers of folk art, country furniture, or authentic rustic decoration. Ideal as a collector's item, decorative element, or for restoration. Dimensions: H. 81.5 cm – W. 32 cm – Weight: 4 kg.
