Renaissance / Louis XIII style ceremonial armchair, dating from the early 19th century, entirely carved from dark solid wood. The openwork backrest features a Christian cross surmounting a decoration of a scallop shell, scrolls, and acanthus leaves carved in high relief. The front legs are designed as lion's paws with claws. The monumental scroll-shaped armrests, adorned with carved foliage, rest on a belt decorated with a shell cartouche. The liturgical purpose of this seat is confirmed by the presence of the cross and the scallop shell, characteristic symbols of ecclesiastical furniture. The seat and armrests are upholstered in red and grey cut velvet with baroque floral patterns, secured by a row of golden nails. Restored by the seller's workshops, the piece is in perfect condition. Total height: 90 cm – Seat height: 57 cm – Weight: 15 kg. We offer a selection of our items, mostly in perfect original condition or restored by our artisan cabinetmakers, upholsterers, and gilders.
