Thonet office chair n°1. Appearing around 1885, as chair no. 47, thanks to the new style opportunities offered by the use of thermoformed veneers, it is also the first model of armchair, designated from the outset as an office chair ("schreibtischfauteuil"). The angled quadripody offered seat ergonomics adapted to the so-called "dress" trades at the time. Remarkable design - the saddle shape is taken over from that of the connecting circle of the feet (a feat of bending), adorned with small capitals. The openwork backrest evokes two sections of hanging stretched between seat and backrest. The perforation of the veneers, in addition to an undeniable decorative contribution, allowed the seat (and its user) to "breathe". -- beautiful state of conservation and patina for this duly stamped copy (dating 1890-1910).
