LCW (Lounge Chair Wood), designed by Charles & Ray Eames. Plywood, ash veneer. This chair was sold by Herman Miller but still produced by Evans Plywood, probably in 1948. The 5-2-5 screw arrangement underneath was used only by Evans Products. Herman Miller produced it from 1949-1950 onward, but with a 4-2-5 screw arrangement. This chair already bears the Herman Miller label but lacks the metal glides under the feet. These metal glides are normally present on all chairs bearing the Herman Miller label; this is therefore a transitional chair, produced when Herman Miller began to modify certain production details. Production of the LCW was discontinued in 1958 until its reintroduction in 1994. The chair largely retains its original finish, slightly retouched to preserve its patina. In a beautiful, warm honey color, it has its original screws and bears the original Herman Miller label. Seat height: approximately 35 cm
