DCW Chair Charles & Ray Eames for Evans Plywood 1945, original label

DCW (Dining Chair Wood) chair in walnut veneer. First generation produced by Evans Plywood Products in 1945 or 1946 (Herman Miller took over production in 1950). This chair retains its original label, the earliest version aside from those of the prototypes, which dates it to 1945 or 1946. Surviving chairs from these years are extremely rare. Museum piece! The chair is in its original finish with the original shockmounts and screws underneath. The center piece of the chair is slightly twisted, so the seat is not perfectly horizontal, a sign of its 80-year history. Original patina finish, some scratches on the seat. The shockmount on the back has been replaced.
