Pair of armchairs, Empire period – early 19th century

Sculpted with refinement, these armchairs from the early 19th century illustrate the noble aesthetic of the Empire style. The solid mahogany structure, enhanced with a veneer of deep-hued mahogany burl, features a symmetrical decoration of finely carved palmettes at the top of the backrest and on the armrests, showcasing meticulous cabinetmaking. Their generous seat and slightly inclined backrest offer appreciable comfort. The whole is dressed in a cream check-patterned fabric, understated and bright, showing signs of use. Resting on two turned and moulded front legs and two saber legs at the back, this pair combines balance and presence. Ideal for a classic setting or an interior blending old and contemporary styles, it will appeal to enthusiasts of period furniture in search of authentic and decorative pieces.
