Signed lower right: "Choppard-Mazeau Arcachon 1890" Jeanne Choppard-Mazeau was born on May 12, 1861, in Paris and died on July 16, 1896, in Paris. Caroline Léonie Jeanne Mazeau was the daughter of Senator Charles Jean Jacques Mazeau (1825-1905) and Jeanne Marie Augustine Berthe Genret Perrotte (1840-1910). A student of Louise Thoret, Pierre Paul Léon Glaize, as well as Jean Jacques Henner, Philippe Parrot, and Carolus Duran, she exhibited at the Salon from 1879. In 1896, she married the lawyer Léon Choppard. Living on rue de Lille, she died at her parents' home on rue Vaneau at the age of 35.
