Naturalist plate, Portuguese work circa 1980. Dive into the vibrant and colourful world of Portuguese naturalist pottery with this spectacular wall plate. At its centre sits an impressive raised red lobster, surrounded by shells, stylised corals, and glazed seaweed, mimicking a beach, in an explosion of textures and shimmering colours. Typical of the Portuguese ceramic tradition of the early 20th century, this piece pays homage to the legacy of Raphael Bordalo Pinheiro, a master of majolica inspired by Bernard Palissy. A true work of decorative art, it is hand-shaped and glazed, showcasing typical baroque realism. In generally good condition, with two broken feet to note. 30 X 6 cm. Careful, quick, and tidy shipping or personal handover in Paris / Reims / Laon.
