A fine pair of French Empire gilt bronze single-arm antique wall lights, elegantly crafted with richly detailed winged swan-head scrolling arms, exemplifying the refined neoclassical style of the early 19th century. Each graceful arm terminates in a trumpet-shaped, scalloped bobeche with integral drip pan, designed to support a single candle drip. The arms issue from a striking decorative lozenge-shaped backplate, finished in contrasting black enamel and adorned with finely cast gilt bronze anthemion finials and terminals, enhancing the sophisticated architectural character of the design. The quality of the casting is evident throughout, with crisp detailing and finely chased surfaces. The sconces are wired with French Twin core wiring and take 1 small screw in E14 bulbs each. Good solid antique condition with aged patina, marks, and some verdigris consistent with age. Beige card candle drips are in vintage condition with some wear at the tops. Horizontal hanging bar on backplate for hanging the sconces after wiring, wall fittings not included.
