An amazing pair of lacquered birch stools. Designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek in Finland. Model "K60". This vintage set dates from the 1970s. "Alvar Aalto (1898 - 1976) was a Finnish architect and designer. He was part of the modern architecture movement, but he developed his own style, based on modernist architecture combined with the use of local materials and his personal expression. Although he came from a younger generation, Aalto is considered one of the masters of modern architecture, alongside Le Corbusier, Mies Van Der Rohe, and Walter Gropius, and he is now recognized as one of the most important architects of this country."
