Beautiful pair of handcrafted nesting tables made from carved exotic wood, created in Madagascar by Randrianandrasana J.V., with an engraved mention under the top: Antanimena – Trive / Winner of the O.M. Craft Award / Best Craftsman of France in 1955 in Paris, followed by the artisan's signature. The tops feature rich tropical scenes in bas-relief: porters, a yoked zebu, palm trees, and finely crafted village landscapes. The simple lines and tapered legs evoke the modernist furniture of the 1950s-1960s while retaining a strong artisanal character. The largest table measures approximately 49 × 44 × 31 cm. The set is in generally good condition with signs of use consistent with age: slight scratches, discreet wear to the varnish, and small variations in colour visible on the tops, with no structural fragility.
