Roger Capron - Rare Wall Flower Vase

Rare wall-mounted flower vase by Roger Capron in terracotta with a white slip and a coloured motif revealed by paraffin during the glazing process. The vase has a flat side allowing it to be attached to a wall as a sconce. This piece, of a beautiful size (20cm), is signed with the initials "R C" for Roger Capron on the back. It is in perfect condition. Roger Capron studied applied arts in Paris before settling in Vallauris in 1946, where he founded a ceramics workshop, thus contributing to the local renaissance of ceramics. In 1952, he purchased an abandoned pottery and opened a small ceramics factory with 15 workers. By 1957, he had established a considerable international reputation. By 1980, his factory employed 120 people, and during the same decade, he returned to producing unique pieces exhibited internationally. Following the economic crisis, the factory closed in 1982. Capron passed away in 2006, leaving behind a significant and globally recognised body of work. A detailed certificate will be provided to the buyer on our gallery's letterhead.
