Young roman girl in traditional costume in a setting of rocks magnificent work of this painter who painted landscapes and genre scenes in watercolor which were loved by rich travelers visiting rome and italy superb condition original frame 55*60 cm 24*37 cm outside frame signed lower right ettore franz roma ettore roesler franz [1845-1907] in 1881, ettore roesler franz exhibited the first core of his series on picturesque rome, sixteen views of the tiber in his studio in piazza san claudio. In 1883, the exhibition at the palazzo delle esposizione in the architecture room showed for the first time the forty watercolors from his roma sparita series (“vanished rome”). He then exhibited it in 1884 at società degli amatori e cultori delle belle arti, in 1888 in berlin, and in vienna in 1890. His “picturesque rome” (second and third series) was exhibited in 1897 in the foyer of the teatro drammatico nazionale.all of his works (120 watercolors) were the subject of several exhibitions (in 1904, 1908, 1911, 1929, 1952, and finally in 1980, at the museo di roma in trastevere which still exhibits part of them).
