This antique coastal oil painting, from around 1845, shows a woman and her two children at the seashore, gathered around a small toy sailing boat, with the waves and a softly clouded sky behind them. Warm red and brown tones contrast beautifully with the blue-grey sea. The painting is set in a substantial gilded wooden frame, whose warm finish and aged patina beautifully complement the colours of the artwork.
