Lustre balloon 8 arms 12 lights

Large 8-arm 12-light Empire style Montgolfier basket crystal chandelier. The chandelier features 8 arms adorned with beads and intricate floral decorations. The arms lead to cut glass bobeches embellished with crystal prisms. The chandelier consists of two decorative rings with multiple strings of graduated-sized cut glass crystals adorning the space between them. More crystals enclose the bottom of the piece, with rectangular prisms between the octagonal crystals leading to a round brass decorative finial. From the finial hang 8 further prisms and a diamond-shaped crystal. At the top of the basket are 8 small arms decorated with beads, each with a hanging crystal prism. In the centre of the chandelier is a brass bar with four additional bulb holders, making a total of 12 lights, providing ample illumination for even the largest of rooms. The chandelier hangs from a large decorative hoop, a 1-link chain, and a decorative cup-style ceiling fitting. The light has French twin-core wiring and takes 4 large bayonet bulbs (B22) on the inside and 8 small screw-in bulbs (E14) in the arms. The brass framework is in good antique condition with age-related patina, and the crystal beads are in good condition, bright and clear with no visible chips or cracks. Some of the prisms may have small nibbles, but nothing that detracts from their beauty. The candle drips are original and show age-related wear, with some crumbling and discolouration. We take great care when wrapping our chandeliers; however, some of the strings may become detached in transit, but it is simply a matter of hooking the strings back together.
