Designed by Stilnovo in the 1950s, this three-light pendant exemplifies the refined balance of geometry and materiality that defined the company’s post-war aesthetic. The interplay between its suspended opaline glass volumes, white-lacquered metal elements, and polished brass accents reflects the sculptural clarity characteristic of Italian mid-century lighting design. Crafted in brass, white-lacquered metal, and opaline glass, the pendant features three organically shaped diffusers suspended from a black-lacquered ceiling mount connected by fixed brass arms. Each shade is composed of a white opaline glass body and a lacquered metal upper section with a brass collar. The height of each pendant can be individually adjusted through its cord, allowing subtle variations in composition while maintaining the lamp’s original structure. Founded in Milan in 1946 by Bruno Gatta, Stilnovo quickly became one of the most influential lighting manufacturers of post-war Italy. The company embraced a modern, experimental approach, combining industrial techniques with innovative materials such as lacquered metal, brass, plexiglass, and opaline glass. Condition: Excellent overall condition. Provenance: Private residence in Florence. Restoration: None reported. Certification: Published in Stilnovo Milano, Lumi Press 2025, pp. 54 and 56. Dimensions: Diameter 85 cm – Height 88 cm. Ref.: L0822.
