Superb salon bench (basket model) in Louis XVI style.

Salon bench (basket model) in Louis XVI style, dating from the Napoleonic III era / early 20th century. This beautifully crafted piece is made of carved and gilded wood. The backrest is richly adorned with a magnificent central medallion carved in high relief, representing musical attributes (wind instruments and pan flute), topped with a ribbon bow and framed by floral garlands. The legs are straight, tapered, and elegantly carved with fluting, typical of neoclassical taste. Condition: The double caning of the backrest and the through caning of the seat (handmade, thread by thread) are in excellent condition, well tensioned and without any missing or broken strands. The original gilding has a superb patina of use that attests to its authenticity and gives it a charming appeal. The structure is perfectly sound and stable. A refined and very decorative piece, ideal for an entrance, a living room, or the end of a bed. No visible stamp.
