Iconic mezzadro stool, designed by achille & pier giacomo castiglioni in 1957. Originally designed for an exhibition 'shapes and colours in today's homes' in villa olmo in como, zanotta took it into production in 1970. This particular stool can be dated to the 1980s, as can be seen from the marking underneath the stem. The stool has a red lacquered metal tractor seat, a chrome plated steel stem and a solid beech wooden footrest. This poetic and conceptual stool is also part of the collection of the moma in new york, among other museums. The stool is in very good original condition. Only minor traces of use, a scratch in the middle of the seat, as visible in the pictures. “with this rather unusual homage name, the object brings to mind neo vanguardism, from the provocative nature of arte povera to the irony of pop art. Like a work by duchamp, the assembly of craft-based and industrial components holdstogether: the farming world in the sheet metal seat and the steel crossbow, the cycling world in the fixing pin and the nautical one in the beech wood crosspiece.”.
