Chair 1980–1990

Rare sculptural chair, circa 1980–1990. Provenance: collection of Mario and Julia Zoutis. An enigmatic and particularly graphic piece has now joined our selection. Entirely constructed around a sculptural work of metal, this chair combines a circular base, a tall central structure made of metal slats with undulating lines, a black circular seat, and a spectacular asymmetrical wing-shaped backrest. Its bronze finish and the radicality of its construction place it within the vocabulary of European sculptural furniture from the late 20th century, straddling the line between postmodern design and artist's piece. One detail particularly catches our attention: the chair bears a monogram stamped directly into the metal, the author of which remains unidentified to this day. A piece we have chosen primarily for the strength of its silhouette, the quality of its construction, and its unique character. Designer / publisher: currently being identified. Circa 1980–1990.
