Superb set of four ceramic pieces made by Madeleine Brault for the Poterie de la Colombe, a workshop she ran in Orriule, in the south-west of France, during the 1950s and 1960s. The lot includes two mugs, a plate adorned with a sunflower motif, and a cup or vase decorated with a stylised hen. Each piece is crafted from stoneware and hand-decorated. The warm shades of chocolate brown, beige, and terracotta, combined with a beautiful patina of time, highlight the artisanal character of the set. The organic shapes, generous weight, and slightly grainy surface of the painted stoneware offer a rich and authentic tactile experience. Marks of the Poterie de la Colombe under the base. Three items are in excellent vintage condition. One of the mugs has a fine internal crack, visible in the photos. ✣ Dimensions. • Cup / vase: 14.5 cm height × 7.5 cm diameter. • Plate: 20 × 15.5 × 5 cm. • Mugs: 11.5 cm diameter × 8 cm height. ✨ Condition. Very good to excellent vintage condition. One mug with an internal crack, the other pieces are in excellent condition with normal age-related patina.
