Bay Keramik Series 62 – Brutalist vase lamp with designer shade. This accent lamp represents the distinctive design language of German ceramic design from the 1970s – here it is transformed into a striking unique piece with a modern handcrafted lampshade. The lamp base consists of an original vase from the rare Bay Keramik Series 62, model 62-17, designed by Bodo Mans. The series is among the most impressive designs of German brutalism in ceramic design. Characteristic is the deliberate contrast between the rough, almost stone-like surface and the glossy glaze. The vase was made at particularly high firing temperatures, giving the unglazed ceramic its distinctive, coarse-grained structure – a consciously employed design element. Within Series 62, there are numerous variants with different shapes, sizes, and glazes. This model combines the natural ceramic with a deep dark red relief glaze. The handcrafted lampshade measures 20 × 20 cm and is made from a high-quality designer fabric featuring stylised cranes. The graphic pattern harmonises beautifully with the powerful ceramic and creates a particularly lovely effect when the light is switched on. The fabric is pleasantly translucent, allowing the motifs to gently shine while simultaneously creating a warm, atmospheric light in the room. Technology – cordless & flexible: The lamp is powered by a rechargeable LED light source, which can be charged via a USB-C cable. Light duration of up to 12 hours. The light source can be purchased again for around 12 euros at any time. The LED light source is suitable for outdoor use – ideal for balconies or terraces. If desired, the lamp is also available with a cable.
