Indian copper vase. Beautiful "grotesque" decoration.

This very pretty vase with a very slender silhouette is of indian origin and entirely made of blackened copper. The gilded parts were actually made by sanding the black surface to bring out the copper. The contrast is extremely successful. We note the very aesthetic repetition of the patterns (decoration called "à la grotesque") as well as the gilded lines made around the rounded parts of the vase. Beautifully made, it has some signs of wear but is in excellent general condition. Very decorative, and curiously very in keeping with the napoleon 3 style. H: 41 cm. Max diameter: 13 cm.
