Beautiful 19th-century Boston game box made of veneered wood and marquetry, adorned on the lid with a decorative cartouche. The compartmentalised interior retains a significant collection of antique tokens in various shapes and colours, the central basket, as well as a rare handwritten rule titled "Rule of the Boston Game" with a payment table. Lock and small key present. Beautiful old patina and very good decorative condition considering its age. Normal signs of use to note, and the contents are sold as photographed. A particularly decorative collectible item, a testament to the board games and parlor card games of the 19th century.
