Ashtray/Trinket Dish in Murano Sommerso Art Glass, dating from the mid-20th century/1950, made using the classic Sommerso technique, in which layers of coloured glass are encased in clear crystal to create remarkable optical depth and luminosity - The piece features an organic sculptural heart shape with gently curved edges that give the object a dynamic and fluid appearance. The vibrant green, yellow, and amber tones seem to float within the thick transparent glass, producing subtle colour transitions and beautiful light reflections when viewed from different angles - Although originally designed as an ashtray, the object also serves well as a decorative centrepiece or a small catch-all for everyday items.
