Antique Italian painting Christ in the Garden of Olives from 17th century

COD 11479. Antique Italian painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork from the Genoese school depicting a religious subject, Christ in the Garden of Olives, of good pictorial quality. The painting is adorned with a non-contemporary antique frame in carved wood with a walnut finish and attractive decoration. This large, horizontally arranged painting is of great impact and appealing to antique dealers and collectors of ancient sacred art. At the center of the composition is Christ in prayer, his eyes turned toward the angel offering him the chalice, symbol of the Passion. Next to Christ, stretched out on the ground, are the sleeping disciples. The artwork has undergone extensive conservative restoration, including relining, replacement of the stretcher, and repainting in several areas (see photo). The painting is in overall good condition with signs of restoration. Internal dimensions: H 96 X W 136 cm.
