Pair of hand-carved boxwood Guanyin (觀音) statuettes, China, late 20th century. Two complementary postures — one holding a vase of wisdom, the other in anjali mudra (hands joined). Each rests on a finely carved lotus throne. The diadem is adorned with a miniature relief Buddha. Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion, is one of the most revered figures in Asian Buddhism. Her presence in an interior symbolizes peace, grace, and benevolence. The boxwood, a precious wood with a natural honey patina, gives these pieces remarkable warmth and density. Dimensions: H. 10.5 cm × W. 6.5 cm × D. 5.5 cm. Material: carved boxwood. Origin: China, late 20th century. Condition: good overall condition, slight signs of use consistent with age. Sold as a pair. Careful delivery in mainland France.
