Beautiful Asian statuette of popular art in carved monoxyle wood, with a thick varnish in dark reddish-brown tones, representing a standing figure with hands joined in a prayer or meditation pose. Japanese or Chinese craftsmanship, antique/vintage from the mid-20th century, circa 1930-1960. Height 29.5cm, width 9cm, depth approximately 6-7cm. Overall in good condition with numerous small chips/scales and wear to the varnish, consistent with age, harmonious with the patina overall. Weighs approximately 300-400g.
