This antique beech wood plan chest is a flat drawer card cabinet with recessed handles, featuring a cubic body and robust construction. It originates from a Skoda factory in Central Europe, Slovakia, from the mid-20th century, in the tradition of industrial archival furniture. Plan chests were used to store large-format cards, boards, and drawings in technical studios, printing houses, and design offices. Their system of wide, shallow drawers protected the paper flat. The body is made of beech wood, with a stack of flat drawers sliding on wooden guides and recessed handles flush with the front. The construction is solid, and the drawers maintain their smooth operation. The patina is warm and blonde, typical of beech, with regular wear and small marks on the fronts. The surface retains its honest appearance, without any restoration that obscures it. Today, it serves as a storage unit, creative studio furniture, or a high-capacity base under a work surface. It fits into industrial, mid-century, and contemporary interiors, where it brings order and functional character. Details. Dimensions: Length 120 cm – Depth 91 cm – Height 107 cm. Style: Industrial.
