Renovated Victorian Chesterfield Sofa in Leather by Howard & Son

We are delighted to offer for sale this very beautiful and fully restored large sofa by Baring Howard & Son's Berners Street London, covered in vintage brown leather, featuring floating cushions with Thomas Chippendale style buttons. This sofa is arguably the finest ever made, recognised as one of the most comfortable in the world. A highly collectible model with an extra deep seat for added comfort. The interior of the left back leg is stamped with the serial number, and the right back leg bears the inscription Howard & Son's LTD Berners Street. The sofa has been completely restored: the base washed and then French polished, leather washed, hand-dyed six times, aged, sealed, waxed, and polished. Dimensions taken at the widest point: height 85.5 cm, width 196 cm, depth 108 cm. Seat height 47 cm, seat width 156 cm, seat depth 84.5 cm. High-end leather and craftsmanship, Victorian style, 19th-century period. Condition: restored, wear consistent with age and use.
