Chesterfield leather canapé in Georgian style with lion paw carved feet.

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent brown leather Chesterfield sofa in late Victorian Irish Georgian style, featuring hand-carved lion paw feet. The leather is period and original, restored while maintaining the original colour, shaded and secured to prevent any cracking or future damage. The feet are hand-carved from solid mahogany blocks, stained and polished. The sofa is considered a piece of art furniture. The base is a traditional coil spring structure, and the cushions are lightweight and filled with feathers, making them very comfortable. Dimensions (taken at the widest point): height 106 cm, width 157.5 cm, depth 78.5 cm. This item is available for collection from our warehouses in Wimbledon. Condition: restored, wear consistent with age and use, slight discolouration. Please refer to the detailed photos, as they are part of the description regarding the condition. The aged period leather shows a natural patina with cracks, creases, and wear. It is recommended to regularly wax to preserve moisture and to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent drying out or discolouring the hand-dyed leather.
