Hansen and Guldborg extra wide shelving unit in teak, 1960s

This impressive and rare teak shelving unit designed by Thygesen & Johnny Sorensen was made by Danish renowned manufacturer Hansen & Guldborg (HG Furniture) some time in the 1960s. Constructed from rich teak wood and teak veneer, the system showcases the warm tone and grain that define Scandinavian furniture of the era. Overall size is H:  204 / W: 363 / D: 40 cm. The composition includes a spacious chest of drawers with four beautifully dovetailed drawers, a cabinet with two adjustable interior shelves, another smaller cabinet with internal shelves, and a console with two drawers. Eleven shelves of varying depths provide ample display space for books and decorative objects. The bottom shelves are 30 cm deep, and after removing one on the very bottom, one creates a small desk, just enough for working on a laptop or reading. Since there are two spaces like this, two people can work using such shelves at the same time. The modular system is supported by five solid teak wall-mounted rails with original solid brass hangers, allowing easy adjustment and reconfiguration of all elements according to your needs. The unit has been fully renovated—the wood has been carefully cleaned and refinished with professional compounds to highlight its natural depth of color and ensure long-lasting durability. All drawers slide smoothly, and all components fit perfectly. The label confirms the authenticity of the furniture’s origin. Overall, the wall unit remains in excellent vintage condition.
