This lithograph “The Aspects of Nature - The Sea” is signed Henri Rivière at the bottom left. The work is authentic and old. Regarding its condition, there are small marks and ink lines in the margin. On the litho, we note small spots in places. The lithograph is very fresh in colour; once framed, most of the defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theatre of the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with the creation of innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
