Large plate made of thuya root, Morocco, 1980s, Ø70 cm

Large Moroccan platter from the 1980s, carved from a single piece of thuya root. 70 cm in diameter, 23 cm high, approximately 15 kg: it's a size that is rarely encountered. Its strong point is the wood. The thuya root gives this speckled grain, these small dark knots, and this amber hue that changes with the light. The patina is beautiful, and the wood has gained depth over time. It needs space to exist: in the centre of a large table, on a kitchen island, or a wide console. Empty, it stands on its own. Filled with fruit, it also does the job very well. Dimensions: Diameter 70 cm, Height 23 cm / Weight: approximately 15 kg. Ref LDP: 2025-WXU5W.
