large sycamore wood bowl circa 1800

Superb sycamore wood bowl circa 1800 Very beautiful bowl made from a single piece, hand-turned, with a superb patina dating from the late 18th century/early 19th century. This type of vessel was shaped from freshly felled sycamore rather than dried and hardened wood. This wood was particularly valued for its natural qualities, known not to alter the taste of food and possessing antibacterial properties. Ideal as a catch-all, fruit bowl, or decorative piece. England or Wales, around 1800.
