Painting “la grande place de molsheim” - signed r. Loir, after henri marchal beautiful painting representing the large square of molsheim, with its renaissance town hall and its emblematic fountain. This composition is made after henri marchal, an artist known for his architectural views and urban scenes. The work is signed r. Loir, but I was not able to identify this artist with certainty. However, the quality of the work and the harmony of the colors testify to great know-how. Dimensions: • with frame: 25.5 cm (h) × 29.5 cm (w) × 2 cm (d) – weight 600 g • without frame: 17 cm (h) × 21 cm (w) about henri marchal (1875-1958): architect, painter and illustrator, henri marchal is known for his architectural drawings and his representations of cities and villages in france. He collaborated on several publications and his works were notably published in l'illustration, a famous french magazine. This view of molsheim was published in l'illustration n°4622 of october 3, 1931, in a special issue devoted to automobiles and tourism, which makes it a piece of historical and iconographic interest. Condition: • good general condition, with well-preserved colors. • original wooden frame with some traces of time.
