Small salon table in marquetry, Napoleon III style – 2nd half of the 19th century

This small Napoleon III salon table in blackened wood and precious wood marquetry showcases all the decorative refinement of the 19th century. It features a top made of thuya burl enhanced by light and tinted wood marquetry with delicately arranged geometric patterns. Its undulating surface is bordered by an openwork brass gallery highlighted by a bar that accentuates its elegant line. The front also adopts a subtle movement and opens with a finely integrated drawer, adorned with a chiselled bronze knob that reflects the care given to the smallest details. The entire piece rests on four finely turned legs, connected by two stretchers also veneered in thuya burl and edged with a bar, creating a perfect harmony between structure, materials, and decor. This piece embodies the precious and sophisticated spirit of the Napoleon III style, where the virtuosity of rare woods interacts with the brilliance of bronze to offer a piece of furniture that is both decorative, functional, and resolutely elegant.
